When applying for university there are certain subjects required in order to succeed in the chosen program of yours, one of which is the subject English in the majority of. On the website elctronicinfo.ca, under any program for example health science here is the requirements for that , and maybe let’s check the foods and nutrition program . In some way to another English is required in majority of programs. The two main reasons why I believe grade 12 English should be a requirement is because it will assist us in, one university and two our future for our career.
Allow me to break this down for you. In universities, projects and assignments handed to students to complete are written in complex English and requirements for students to fulfill are also going to be based on mostly grade 12 knowledge and information. This is why it is a requirement in order to graduate high school to have earned 4 English credits. English course provides a solid basis for university essay writing and public speaking needed to be done. No matter what the main subject in which your program evolves around essays are written and expected to use correct usage of grammar and punctuation and so forth. For public speaking, it’s very similar. You would need to prepare your paper first of what you are intending of speaking during the speech.
For your future jobs in a field, you wish to stay in English will be very handy. You might have to write up proposals for businesses or it even could increase your chances of getting a well earning income job abroad. It also teaches to have amazing communication skills for your job. Writing up business proposals are a very common task to complete in all types of companies. Having to write those up needs clear and conciseness to rely upon the message/point across. Due to how good you are in English, this will increase your chances of getting a job aboard. Being able to communicate effectively is perhaps the most important of all life skills. A couple of benefits of effective communication are; upturn in productivity, convincing and compelling corporate materials, enhanced professional image and sound business relationships. The company could possibly hire you also as a translator if you are able to understand another language. With this job ties in well having good communication skills, as the people will rely on you for conveying the accurate message.
With these in mind, I think that taking one more year of English will not do any harm but assist us as it simply building more knowledge on what we already gained the previous three years. In 4U the teachers help us to convey thoughts and ideas professionally and maturely.
